In order to make as efficient use as possible with the space at our disposal, we are not only building increasingly higher, but also deeper. This often in inner-city surroundings. New development increasingly occurs near existing construction in the context of inner-city redevelopment. Apart from new-build, existing buildings are made more sustainable and enlarged.
Our geotechnical advice is aimed not only at factory buildings, housing, industrial construction, as well as new-build and renovation. We also advise on infrastructural worksites such as rail and road bridges, roads and underpasses, dyke reinforcement projects and in the area of wind energy.
High quality calculation techniques
The increase in complexity in construction projects leads to a higher risk of construction errors and failure costs. In addition, under the influence of modern types of contract, tendering is competitive. This necessitates creative solutions, a reduction in the use of construction materials - in the context of sustainability as well - and an understanding of the opportunities and risks that arise during the construction process.
By applying advanced calculation techniques, such as PLAXIS and DIANA in combination with BIM and BEM integration of the structural and geotechnical design takes place. This has the aim of cutting the risks of failure, savings in building costs, taking into account influences from the surroundings.

As a relatively large share of the failure costs are of a geotechnical nature, the opportunities and risks can be better identified with a good geotechnical design and the tender can be at a more competitive price.

Many dykes are not in compliance with the standards. There is insufficient space in many locations to reinforce the dyke in the traditional way as a result of existing construction. Dyke reinforcement is achieved by means of structures in the dyke, such as deep walls, drilled piles or sheet piles. By combining knowledge from factory buildings with earth-retaining structures for deep building trenches with the knowledge in the area of dykes, we are able to provide integrated advice.
