The unique Crystal Houses façade has been shortlisted for the Façade Award 2016: the international award for façade engineering excellence. The event takes place on 1st December in London. Three awards will be presented during the conference: New Build, Refurbishment and Innovation.
The façade was designed to maintain the same organization, rhythm and composition as the previous historic envelope, yet with one great difference. Instead of standard brickwork, the new façade consists of circa 7000 adhesively bonded solid glass blocks; even the window and door frames are reinterpreted by elaborated massive cast glass components.
