As a structural engineer, I am analytical and detail and quality oriented, always seeking the most elegant solution in my daily job challenges. My personal drive comes from the magic of turning numbers into objects and in this way, giving practical meaning to abstract concepts, such as mathematics or data science.

At ABT, I have the opportunity to work on integral projects, with a group of people who value innovation and “out of the box” thinking. Since 2015 I have been working on a variety of projects, in the role of: seismic engineer (for the houses, schools and churches strengthening projects and R&D activities in Groningen region), structural engineer for buildings (Collectie Centrum Nederland, Schiphol Airport, Shell International Headquarters), internal data analysis (developing planning and financial tools and insights for internal use within ABT) and project lead on EU research and development grants (Horizon 2020 ProGETonE). Within these projects I used my analytical thinking and rich theoretical background to develop the best approaches and deliver original solutions to our clients. Each of this projects helped me develop into different knowledge areas, thus enriching my multi-disciplinary expertise and mind-set.

The communication and collaboration culture at ABT gives me the opportunity to find inspiration thanks to my colleagues, regardless if they are thirty years into the job or just recently graduated. It is the passion for producing the best solution what brings us together and the strive for more challenging projects what keeps us connected.

What do I bring into projects? Excitement for the unknown, innovative solutions, objective thinking, research-oriented approaches, solid theoretical background in the fields of structural and earthquake engineering, mathematics and statistics; all of these converging towards quality of the end product.

I graduated in 2014 from the Polytechnic University of Milan, with an MSc. in civil engineering for risk mitigation and a research thesis focused on large scale seismic damage assessments and scenario modelling. Afterwards, I decided to follow my passion for earthquake engineering. I briefly worked in my native country, Romania, as structural/seismic engineer for a consultancy firm in the field of oil and gas. Although I was building up engineering experience at a fast pace, I wanted to seek more opportunities in the field of research and innovation. Therefore, in 2015 I started working as earthquake engineer at ABT Delft as part of the “Seismic Advisors” group. Since 2016 I also joined the “Constructions” group, in the role of structural engineer.
