To me, ABT stands for ‘top in technology’. For me, a true technician, it is the ideal working and, in particular, learning environment.
My passion lies in the development of new applications and in researching new materials, such as carbon and glass composites, foam glass and hybrid concrete. But my passion also lies in researching existing structures, damaged or not, often in combination with full-scale test loads. This ensures an exciting and continuous learning process whereby the acquired knowledge can immediately be applied to the more practical projects.
I started at ABT in 2001 as constructor civil engineering. In this role I worked mainly on technically complex detail issues, advanced mathematics with DIANA, damage consultancy (Forensic Engineering) and carbon adhesive reinforcement. As a senior specialist, I now have a role in the coaching and supervising of novice constructors.
I am also a member of the ‘TGB Concrete Structures 351 001 09 (VC20)’ Committee, which fulfils an important role in the (concrete) regulations, NEN and CUR. In the field of carbon adhesive reinforcement I am active in the European work group FIB 9.3 'FRP (Fibre Reinforced Polymer) Reinforcement for Concrete Structures'.
