Geotechnology and underground construction have been my passion since the start of my career. Every construction assignment, location with environment and groundwork, requires integrated customisation with regard to the design, the laying of the foundations and the underground structures.

My strength lies in the supervision of design teams and advising on complex and integrated (underground) building projects in the built environment. For me, the challenge is always to fulfil the client's needs by providing creative solutions and optimum control of costs and risks. When providing advice I can always make a maximum link between theory and practice, partly through participation in knowledge platforms and technical committees, as well as supervising the execution of work. As Senior Consultant of the Civil Engineering group I am also involved on a daily basis with the supervision and coaching of colleagues and the structuring of processes.

I started my career as a geotechnical specialist at Fugro in Leidschendam followed by a short period at Grontmij. After several years' experience, I had the drive to broaden my development as a consultant in multidisciplinary design teams, from feasibility studies to overseeing the work in progress. This drive was partly based on my affinity with structures and the importance that I attached to integrated advice in the interaction between soil mechanics, geotechnical engineering and structures. This fitted seamlessly with the vision and project approach of ABT. Moreover, ABT offered the opportunity to participate in complex and challenging projects in the field of underground construction. The logical conclusion is that I have really enjoyed working as a project leader and senior consultant at ABT for the past 25 years.
