A nature-friendly concrete span crossing a stream in the Main Ecological Zone. For this, the design team NEXT Architects and ABT designed a “forest” of columns supporting a concrete plate that was as thin as possible. This plate was “cut open” in various places to allow daylight to penetrate under the bridge and to separate the various traffic flows – pedestrians, cyclists and a bus lane.
To achieve this, a gabion in the shape of a large cone was used. In some places, a concrete column was included in the gabion. The concrete plate resting on the gabion columns is never more than 300 mm thick.
