Transavia multifunctional office building
Schiphol - Amsterdam
Commissioned by Schiphol Real Estate, a new head office called TransPort has been designed for Transavia.com. The head office is one of the most sustainable buildings in the Netherlands. Besides this, the head office complies with the new measuring instrument BREEAM.NL for new buildings, and the highest demands of the LEED Platinum certificate.
The head office is part of the redevelopment of the business park Schiphol-Oost. The design and the building must comply with sustainability aspects to a high degree. These are fulfilled by making use of diverse energy-efficient techniques. Thus, the location and the form of the building have been designed in such a way that there is optimum entry of daylight. The layout is moreover flexible. TransPort will have around 1,100 square metres of solar panels on the roof. These will generate 112,500 kilowatt hours of energy per year and thus take care of 30 per cent of the building's total energy consumption. In addition, use will be made of concrete core activation in combination with heat and cold storage, weight-saving bubbledeck slabs, a grey water system and green roofs. ABT is taking care of the structural and foundation consultancy.
The building consists of two curved wings, a tall building (five office floors) and a low building (one office floor). The two wings are positioned against each other, so that an enclosed inner area is created on the first floor level. The building is raised up so that parking at surface level is possible underneath.
