Sustainable head office for Transavia.com

Commissioned by Schiphol Real Estate, a new head office called TransPort has been designed for Transavia.com. The head office will be one of the most sustainable buildings in the Netherlands. Possibly, the building itself will even become the first in our country with the highest international certificate for sustainability. This amazing building was topped out on 21 October 2009.

The office is part of the redevelopment of business park Schiphol-Oost. The design and the building must comply with sustainability aspects to a high degree. These are fulfilled by making use of diverse energy-efficient techniques. Thus, the location and the form of the building have been designed in such a way that there is optimum entry of daylight. The layout is moreover flexible. TransPort will have around 1,100 square metres of solar panels on the roof. These will generate 112,500 kilowatt hours of energy per year and thus take care of 30 per cent of the building's total energy consumption. In addition, use will be made of concrete core activation in combination with heat and cold storage, weight-saving bubbledeck slabs, a grey water system and green roofs. ABT is taking care of the structural and foundation consultancy. TransPort will be completed in the course of 2010.
