Vader Piet Wind Farm in Aruba


The last concrete for the foundations of the Vader Piet wind farm in Aruba, Netherlands Antilles, has been poured. The ten wind turbines are now being installed. The turbines, supplied by Vestas, are of the V90-3 MW type with a shaft height of 80 metres.


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ABT was responsible for the foundation design and the supervision during construction.

 


The foundations consist of a reinforced concrete foundation slab fixed to the subsoil by means of rock anchors. Thanks to a smart design, the dimensions of the foundations could remain restricted to only 13 metres in diameter and an average thickness of 2 metres. In this way, we succeeded in keeping the material usage to a minimum.

 



The wind farm was officially opened on 18 December 2009.
